Part 2
The nurse squeezing antiseptic fluid onto the surgeon’s palms,
The surgeon rubbing it in silence, like a monk preparing for a sacrament,
And then, almost always, the nurse pulls the gloves onto the surgeon’s hands, one by one —
like vesting a priest before entering a sanctum.
It's a gesture of trust, collaboration, and unspoken understanding.
It says: I prepare you to enter the body of another human being.
I ready your hands to hold life and death — and to let both go, cleanly.
This quiet exchange — antiseptic fluid, hand, glove — is also a drama of boundaries.
The surgeon's hands, once capable of touch, are gradually made untouchable.
Sanitized. Sealed. Separated from the world — yet poised to enter its innermost part.
नर्स शल्य चिकित्सक की हथेलियों पर एंटीसेप्टिक तरल उड़ेलती है
शल्य चिकित्सक चुपचाप उसे अपनी दोनों हथेलियों में मलता है — जैसे एक पुरोहित किसी अनुष्ठान की तैयारी कर रहा हो
और फिर — लगभग हर बार — नर्स उसके दस्ताने चढ़ाती है, एक-एक कर — जैसे वह उस पुजारी को उपासना वेदी पर चढ़ने से पहले पवित्र वस्त्र धारण करवा रही हो।
यह विश्वास, सहयोग और परस्पर अव्यक्त समझ का संबंध है।
जैसे वह कहती है: मैं तुम्हें तैयार करती हूँ कि तुम किसी और की काया में प्रवेश कर सको। मैं तुम्हारे हाथों को जीवन और मृत्यु को थामने — और फिर निर्विकार छोड़ देने — के लिए सक्षम बनाती हूँ।
यह मौन विनिमय — कीटाणुरोधी तरल, हाथ, दस्ताना — सीमाओं का एक सूक्ष्म नाट्य भी है।
वह हाथ जो स्पर्श कर सकता था, उसे धीरे-धीरे अस्पृश्य बना दिया जाता है।
विसंक्रमित। सीलबंद। दुनिया से अलग — फिर भी उसी के अंतरतम में प्रवेश के लिए सक्षम।
